Restyle and Port

What is a Restyle?
  1. It's an easy way to change the background design of your existing My Plates Select plate to a different My Plates Select background design, while keeping your current plate message. Buy a new car and need a different color plate? Restyle. Newly join or support an organization or college and want that plate on your vehicle? Restyle!
  2. Choose from other My Plates Select designs that can hold the same number of plate characters as your current plate. Some backgrounds can display 6 and less personalized characters, some can display 7 only, and some 7 and less. Feel free to ask us for guidance when you call to Restyle.
  3. Restyle is done for the same period of term on your current plate, for a one-time $50 fee, except for Premium Embossed designs, which are a $75 one-time fee.
  4. Best of all, once manufactured, Restyle plates are delivered direct to your home in about 3 to 4 weeks, so no trip to your local County Tax Assessor Collector office is typically needed. Just swap the new plates onto your vehicle, and hang the old plates in the garage!
What is a Port?
  1. It's an easy way to transfer your existing State Sponsored plate personalized message to a new My Plates Select plate design.
  2. Porting involves identifying the new My Plates Select background design you wish to move onto, choosing the year term you’d like (multi-year terms offer greater savings) and then making a new My Plates Select purchase through our friendly customer care center.
  3. Please note that My Plates Select background designs have differing character displaying ability; some can display 6 and less personalized characters, some can display 7 only, and some 7 and less. Feel free to ask us for guidance when you call to Port.
  4. Once you have Ported to a My Plates Select plate design, your new plate will be manufactured and sent to your nearest County Tax Assessor Collector office in about 4 weeks for pick up.
